The State We're In
2024
The State We’re In, 2024 is a limited edition boxed set of artist books. It is the outcome of a collaborative project produced by eleven members of CAMP Writers’ KIN, a group of artists who work with text as part of their creative practice.
The idea for the project originated from a group discussion noting the number of elections being held worldwide in 2024, with more people being eligible to vote than in any other year in human history. The theme grew from a collective sense of unease and disillusionment in response to the unsettled political, economic, social and ecological environment. It was agreed that we each would make twenty four books rooted in our individual interpretations of The State We’re In, 2024. The books vary in form and material, ranging from photographic to hand printed.
The destination for the twenty four boxed sets include various public and library collections including the Wellcome Collection, University of West England Artist Book Collection & Arts University Plymouth Artist Book Collection, as well as those of each contributing artist.
